This feels a little bit like writing a column for the Tri-County news. Mairnee and Marissa arrived first to supper club. Raymond Yoder and family were picking what's left of Gma's apples. Pretty sure they left with 16 buckets full. Hope Gma gets an apple pie delivered to her house.
Marissa read a cookbook of dessert recipes from when Nancy was in high school. She found a Tri-County band concert program tucked between the pages of the cookbook. Kaitlyn and Megan were featured playing the trumpet in this specific concert.
Mairnee and Marissa snacked on peanuts and beers.
Grandma got antsy and started gathering wood for her bonfire. She couldn't wait on Uncle Steve any longer. Mairnee and Marissa were not aware that a bonfire was a part of the evening. It was a nice surprise.

Check out that fire. And all those hot dogs! |
Finally Uncle Steve and Nichole arrived. Grandma told Uncle Steve "Oh, 3 sticks should do it." All of us gathered bit more than 3 sticks for the fire. Uncle Steve got a bucket of water just in case. It was a bit windy out. Most of the debris was moved out of the way. Still a couple of beer bottles and random tin cans lying around. They didn't pose any danger.
Tatumn is selling Pizza Hut pizza cards. For $10 you can buy a card with coupons for buy one large pizza, get a medium for 99 cents. Marissa and Grandma bought one.
Uncle Steve couldn't remember who sang the country song "Fore She was Momma". None of us could remember either. Megan soon arrived and "goggled" it on her smart phone. Turns out it was Clay Walker. Megan played the song on her phone and Grandma asked her how she played that. We also talked about the Eric Church concert and the suburban flat tire
Megan informed us that she had to go to the hospital after work. She is not injured, her coworker had a baby.
It was dinner time. Hot dogs were roasted over the red hot bonfire in the backyard. Marissa roasted Grandma's hot dog for her. Uncle Steve roasted Meg and Nichole's. Everything was delicious. The mac & cheese was a big hit! Grandma said "Those chili beans need more chili!"
Meanwhile, Uncle Steve pulls Nichole's senior picture out of his wallet. Fancy boots, shorts and red fingernails. Very 1995!
Dessert time finally arrived. Nichole made some awesome brownies and cheesecake. Uncle Steve said he would have still married Nichole if she couldn't cook, but man...it sure is nice that she can. I agree. She makes a mean dessert!

YUM. |
We sang Happy Birthday to Mairnee, with Uncle Steve singing the high harmony. Mairnee blew out her candles on the best cheesecake ever. Light and airy and not to cheesy or pumpkin-y. The praline brownies were wonderfully sweet and tasty, too. All of us had to take a few to-go because we were going to bust at the seams.
Uncle Steve bursts out singing "You gonna kiss me or not...." out of the blue.
Grandma says "If the sun sets behind a cloud on Sunday, you'll have rain before Wednesday."
Everyone was stuffed and had a great time.

Happy 23rd Birthday, Mairnee! |
Uncle Steve and Nichole leave to take a plate to Lil Sawyer. Megan heads home, too. Mairnee dumps a giant bucket of water on the fire. Don't want the Mustang to catch fire! Marissa heads home with the homegrown gourds from Uncle Steve and Nichole's garden to put on display in the Penney High School Library.
And a good time was had by all who attended Wednesday night supper club. See you next week!
There was a rumor it would be Pizza Hut week!
